Role Overview
To provide administrative, logistical, and communication support to the dental laboratory, ensuring the accurate processing, tracking, and dispatch of laboratory work while maintaining effective liaison between technicians and dental practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Incoming Work & Postal Distribution: Receive, sort, and distribute incoming postal and courier orders to the relevant laboratory departments. Ensure all incoming work is accompanied by correct prescriptions and documentation.
- 3D Scanning: 3D scanning / archiving of plaster models (training provided).
- Job Booking & Scheduling: Accurately book laboratory jobs into the laboratory diary or management system. Record due dates, work types, and special instructions to support efficient workflow planning.
- Model Identification: Write and apply clear, consistent patient and dentist identification on physical models in line with laboratory naming protocols. Ensure traceability of models throughout all production stages.
- Telephone & Practice Communication: Answer incoming telephone enquiries from dental practices in a professional and timely manner. Provide case updates and general information, escalating technical queries where appropriate.
- Technical Liaison: Contact dentists directly to clarify prescriptions or resolve technician queries relating to cases. Communicate amendments or additional requirements accurately to the technical team.
- Order Checking & Dispatch: Check completed laboratory work against prescriptions prior to dispatch. Prepare, package, and dispatch completed orders securely via post or driver. Maintain accurate records of outgoing work.
- Stock & Supply Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of laboratory consumables and stationery. Order laboratory and office supplies in line with operational requirements.
