Complete Classroom Services are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and proactive School Caretaker / Site Manager to join a welcoming primary school team. This full-time role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment. The successful candidate will be a trusted key holder responsible for opening and closing the school site each day, ensuring the premises are secure, clean, and operating effectively for pupils, staff, and visitors.

This position requires someone who can work independently, manage their time well, and confidently carry out general maintenance and site duties across the school.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday – Split Shift:
  • 6:00am – 9:30am
  • 2:30pm – 6:00pm

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Opening and unlocking the school each morning.
  • Closing, locking, and securing the school premises each evening.
  • Acting as a designated key holder for the school site.
  • Ensuring alarms, gates, doors, and windows are secured correctly.
  • Carrying out general caretaker and maintenance duties across the school.
  • Undertaking minor repairs, decorating, and basic DIY tasks.
  • Conducting routine checks on lighting, heating, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Maintaining clean, safe, and tidy school buildings and outdoor areas.
  • Carrying out litter picking and basic grounds maintenance duties.
  • Assisting with room setups for assemblies, meetings, and school events.
  • Supervising contractors and reporting maintenance issues where necessary.
  • Supporting health and safety procedures across the school site.
  • Carrying out routine site inspections and reporting hazards promptly.
  • Assisting with gritting pathways and maintaining safe access during poor weather.
  • Supporting the wider school team with operational duties when required.
  • Ensuring the school remains a safe and welcoming environment at all times.

Person Specification

  • Have previous caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site management experience.
  • Be trustworthy, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Have practical DIY and maintenance skills.
  • Have good communication and organisational skills.
  • Be physically capable of carrying out manual handling and site duties.
  • Be punctual, dependable, and flexible.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
