Complete Classroom Services are recruiting on behalf of a friendly and welcoming primary school for a reliable and experienced Site Manager/Caretaker to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and secure school environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and locking the school each day.
  • Carrying out daily health and safety checks.
  • Ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well maintained.
  • General maintenance and basic repairs, including minor plumbing, decorating, and joinery tasks.
  • Monitoring and reporting maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.
  • Setting up and clearing away rooms for assemblies, events, and meetings.
  • Carrying out routine inspections of the school buildings and grounds.
  • Managing deliveries and assisting contractors while on site.
  • Ensuring fire exits, alarms, and emergency equipment are checked and accessible.
  • Carrying out regular security checks of the premises.
  • Maintaining outdoor areas, including litter picking, sweeping, gritting pathways during icy weather, and basic grounds maintenance.
  • Monitoring heating, lighting, and other building systems.
  • Assisting with moving furniture and equipment as required.
  • Maintaining records of inspections, maintenance, and health and safety checks.
  • Ensuring compliance with school policies and health and safety regulations.
  • Responding promptly to any emergency maintenance issues.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, Premises Officer, or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Good DIY and general maintenance skills.
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Safeguarding Requirements

An Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service is essential. Candidates who do not currently have one must be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS before starting employment.
