We are seeking a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Kingston upon Thames from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science Technician or someone with a strong science background looking to support practical teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing resources, maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.

The Role

  • Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are stored safely and efficiently.
  • Assist teaching staff with practical demonstrations and experiments where required.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering equipment and consumables as necessary.
  • Ensure laboratories comply with health and safety regulations, including the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Support the Science department with administrative tasks and resource management.
  • Promote safe working practices at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a laboratory, educational or scientific environment (desirable).
  • A good understanding of Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical work.
  • Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
