About the Role

Complete classroom services are seeking a qualified and experienced First Aid Officer to join our school on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day medical and first aid provision across the school, ensuring that pupils receive appropriate care and that all medical practices meet Ofsted and DfE health and safety standards.

You will work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and administrative teams to maintain accurate health records, manage first aid resources, and provide a calm, professional response to incidents and emergencies.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid training who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first aid and medical support to pupils and staff when required.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate medical and accident records in line with school policy, GDPR, and safeguarding requirements.
  • Conduct regular checks on medical supplies, first aid kits, and equipment, ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards.
  • Oversee the safe storage and administration of medication for pupils with specific health needs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs) for pupils with medical conditions.
  • Provide guidance and basic first aid training to staff where required.
  • Monitor student health concerns, record incidents, and liaise with parents, carers, and healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Promote a safety-first culture within the school through awareness and compliance with first aid procedures.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Current First Aid at Work and/or Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Experience providing first aid or medical support in a school, healthcare, or community setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, infection control, and emergency response procedures.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Compassionate, calm, and professional manner when dealing with children and emergencies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school or educational environment.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted and DfE requirements for school medical provision.
  • Experience using school systems (e.g. SIMS, CPOMS, or similar).
