Complete Classroom Services is seeking a dedicated School Welfare Administrator to join our educational institution’s administrative team. This vital role involves overseeing student welfare services, supporting the well-being of pupils, and ensuring the smooth operation of welfare-related activities within the school environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a compassionate approach, and experience in educational settings, particularly with teaching or student support functions. Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key point of contact for pupils, parents/carers, staff, and visitors regarding welfare and pastoral matters.
- Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Record, monitor, and appropriately escalate welfare and safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.
- Support pupils with welfare, wellbeing, and pastoral needs.
- Liaise with parents/carers and relevant professionals regarding pupil welfare.
- Support multi-agency working with external professionals and services where required.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment.
- Raise safeguarding, welfare, or health and safety concerns promptly with the appropriate member of staff.
Attendance & Pupil Support
- Monitor daily pupil attendance and punctuality.
- Follow up on pupil absences and communicate with parents/carers where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate attendance and welfare records.
- Identify attendance concerns and report them to relevant staff.
- Support the school in improving attendance and reducing persistent absence.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and Attendance Officer to support positive pupil outcomes.
Administration
- Provide effective administrative support to the school and Senior Leadership Team.
- Maintain accurate and confidential pupil, welfare, attendance, and safeguarding records.
- Manage correspondence, telephone calls, emails, and communication with parents/carers and external agencies.
- Assist with the organisation of meetings, appointments, and school activities.
- Use school IT systems and Microsoft Office effectively.
- Prepare reports, records, and documentation as required.
- Support general school office and administrative duties as reasonably required.
Health & Safety / First Aid
- Hold a valid First Aid qualification.
- Provide appropriate first aid support to pupils and staff within the scope of your training.
- Follow school health and safety procedures and relevant legislation.
- Maintain accurate records of first aid incidents where required.
- Ensure safeguarding and pupil protection remain a priority at all times.
- Raise any health, safety, or welfare concerns promptly.
General Duties
- Carry out all duties in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, performance management, and professional development.
- Support whole-school initiatives and contribute positively to the school community.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as reasonably requested by the Senior Leadership Team.
Essential Requirements
- Have a valid First Aid qualification.
- Have a DBS registered on the Update Service.
- Be available to start as soon as possible.
- Have experience working with children and/or within a school, education, welfare, pastoral, or administrative environment.
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Be confident communicating with pupils, parents/carers, staff, and external professionals.
- Have excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Be able to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Be reliable, professional, approachable, and proactive.
- Have good IT and communication skills.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a school welfare, pastoral, attendance, safeguarding, or administrative role.
- Knowledge of school attendance procedures.
- Experience of working with external agencies and supporting families.
- Relevant safeguarding or child protection training.
- Experience working within a busy school or education setting.
