Are you a strong communicator with the ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information? The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is seeking a Merger Remedies and Financial Analysis Adviser to provide commercial analysis and insight across a range of our cases.
The CMA is an independent non-ministerial UK government department and is the UK’s principal competition and consumer protection authority. We help people, businesses, and the UK economy by promoting competitive markets and tackling unfair behaviour. We provide the opportunity to work across all sectors of the UK economy, undertaking objective, evidence-based analysis that can have a direct and substantial impact on the economy and economic prosperity.
The CMA’s mission is to make markets work well for consumers, businesses and the UK economy. To achieve this mission the CMA investigates a range of areas, and intervenes in markets by introducing remedies to tackle the consumer and competition problems we find. The Merger Remedies and Financial Analysis group sits within the wider CMA Mergers directorate and provides CMA decision-makers with business and financial analysis across a range of issues arising in our merger investigations, including:
- Undertaking assessments of complex counterfactual scenarios;
- Leading on the development, implementation, monitoring, enforcement and reviews of the remedies we impose;
- Imposing and monitoring the CMA’s interim measures during our merger investigations.
Merger Remedies and Financial Analysis Advisers work closely with economists and legal advisers in multi-disciplinary teams, providing commercial analysis and insight across the breadth of the CMA’s mergers case work. This involves understanding businesses and gathering, analysing, interpreting and presenting good quality financial information. Merger Remedies Advisers also play a lead role in determining and defining effective solutions to the problems we find.
