The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading all our financial operations and guiding our management on financial decisions. The role will be responsible for budgeting, reporting, auditing and financial planning, as well as advising senior leaders on fiscal strategy.

Compco’s Accounts Team manages the business’s financial transactions, maintains accurate financial records and supports the overall financial health of the organisation. The department acts as the financial centre for money coming in and out of the business, ensuring it is properly tracked and reported. Providing financial visibility to the organisation allows the department to support key strategic decisions for the business.

The Head of Finance reports directly to the CEO and acts as a strategic partner to the Senior Leadership Team, providing financial leadership, commercial insight and clear visibility of business performance to support effective decision-making and long-term growth. Working collaboratively across all areas of the business, the Head of Finance will have exceptional communication and influencing skills to develop and implement financial strategies and deliver objectives. The role requires strong analytical and commercial acumen to produce and present accurate financial reporting, forecasts, budgets and risk analysis to identify opportunities, manage risk and drive business performance. The Head of Finance will also lead continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes and reporting capabilities.

The position requires excellent leadership capability to recruit, develop, mentor and support the Accounts Team, while partnering with department managers to promote best practice and robust financial management across the business. With organisation-wide impact, the Head of Finance is responsible for safeguarding the financial health of the company, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, effective cash flow management and the delivery of strategic financial plans. Failure to perform the role effectively could result in significant financial, operational and regulatory ramifications for the business.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy to support business growth and long-term objectives.
  • Provide strong leadership and development for the Account Teams.
  • Prepare, analyse and present accurate financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Monitor financial performance through detailed analysis of results, trends, and key performance indicators.
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Partner with senior management to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes across the business.
  • Oversee cash flow planning to ensure the ongoing availability of funds and effective control.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee internal audit and compliance process.
  • Review, understand and document product costing methodologies and drive improvements and alternative processes.
  • Identify and implement internal controls, financial systems, and process improvements.
  • Drive simplification, standardisation, and automation of finance and cost accounting processes, while supporting wider cross-functional process improvements.
  • Resolve issues that affect transactional accounting and/or financial reporting accuracy by working with or leading cross-functional teams to resolve.
  • Ensure monthly closing processes are accomplished with accuracy and completed in accordance with reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain responsibility for accuracy, integrity and timely completion of all financial reporting.
  • Perform accounting activities in compliance with financial, regulatory, and internal accounting policies and guidelines.
  • Work closely with Commercial teams to support business strategy, performance monitoring and financial governance.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to the departmental leaders to ensure best-practice, commercial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Review, develop, and continuously improve finance policies, processes and work instructions to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of business systems, reporting capabilities, and digital processes to improve operational effectiveness, data accuracy, and user experience.
