Support Worker Role Summary: To work within a team providing care and support to complex children and young people, ensuring their safety and the development of positive outcomes.

  • Create a safe haven where laughter is the language, and hugs are the currency.
  • Be a positive role model, guiding them through the ups and downs of childhood with patience, kindness, compassion, and an endless supply of giggles.
  • Respect our children’s privacy and fight for their rights.
  • Contribute to children’s care plans and risk assessments, their reviews, implementation and evaluation.
  • Ensure high-quality records are maintained for all children with regular supervision and advice from shift leaders.
  • Form effective relationships with children, their families, and external agencies.

  • Experience of working with children with behaviours that challenge people.
  • Relevant qualifications within the childcare industry are welcome, but not essential.
  • Great organisational skills, being creative and able to think outside the box.
  • Effective communication skills, excellent listening skills, and a willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to children.
  • Resilience when faced with difficult challenges.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work flexibly and creatively to overcome challenges.
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to think clearly and follow set procedures.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work as part of a rota including sleep ins.
