A Complex Care Worker provides high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with complex health and physical care needs in their own homes. The role involves supporting individuals with conditions such as acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, tracheostomy care, ventilator dependency, PEG feeding, neurological conditions, and other long-term or life-limiting illnesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and continence care while promoting dignity and independence.
- Provide safe moving and handling support using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Support with medication administration in line with care plans and company policies.
- Carry out clinical interventions following specialist training and competency assessments, including:
- Tracheostomy care and suctioning
- Ventilator monitoring and support
- PEG feeding and medication administration
- Monitoring observations and reporting concerns
- Observe and report changes in an individual’s physical, emotional, or mental wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, incident reports, and daily documentation ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed and reporting any concerns or changes appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, waking nights.

- Minimum 1 year’s experience supporting individuals with complex care needs in a home care, community, or residential setting.
- Experience supporting individuals with conditions such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, tracheostomy care, ventilation support, and PEG feeding.
- Strong understanding of person-centred care, safeguarding, dignity, and promoting independence.
- Confident in delivering personal care, moving and handling, and following detailed care plans and clinical protocols.
- Excellent communication, observation, and teamwork skills with the ability to respond calmly in challenging situations.
- Compassionate, reliable, and able to build positive relationships with service users, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Must drive and have business insurance.
