- Overview of the role
- Work directly with a child presenting with complex mental health needs, including
Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) , emotional dysregulation, trauma‑related behaviours and complex behavioural presentations.
- Build trusting therapeutic relationships through consistency, empathy, patience and positive role‑modelling.
- Support the young person to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, resilience and independence whilst maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- Respond calmly and confidently during periods of distress, using de‑escalation techniques and trauma‑informed approaches to support positive outcomes.
- Encourage engagement in education, hobbies, community activities and daily routines that promote wellbeing and recovery.
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, CAMHS, education providers and other professionals to deliver person‑centred support.
- Tailor your approach to the young person's individual needs, strengths and lived experiences while promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Think on your feet and solve problems creatively to overcome challenges.
- Empower and advocate for the child at every opportunity, ensuring their voice is always heard.
- Dynamic, resilient and passionate about improving the lives of children with complex mental health needs.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with mental health conditions, trauma, emotional dysregulation, EUPD or complex behaviours is highly desirable.
- Experience within residential care, CAMHS, mental health, secure services or supported living would be advantageous.
- Excellent English language skills are essential due to the communication and emotional support required within the role.
Due to the complexities of the role, you must be 21 years of age or over.
Qualifications and Attributes
- A calm, patient and emotionally resilient individual with excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Relevant Health & Social Care qualifications are desirable; however, full training and ongoing development will be provided.
- A genuine passion for supporting children through therapeutic, trauma‑informed care.
- Willingness to work a fixed rota, including days, nights and weekends.
You must be able to drive, and a Full Clean UK Driving Licence is essential.
