As an Engagement Centre Assistant, you'll care for our supporters and guide them through their journey with Compassion. You'll answer incoming enquiries and initiate outgoing enquiries by phone, SMS, email, letter, live chat and social media. You'll help our supporters grow in engagement with their sponsored children and Compassion's ministry. By delivering excellent customer service, you'll encourage our supporters to participate fully in Compassion's global mission so that together we can release more children from poverty in Jesus' name.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively maintain and promote Compassion UK's Christian ethos and values.
  • Build relationships with supporters to ensure they are known, loved, connected, and ignited to action.

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills, competencies and experience to thrive in this role:

  • Customer service experience. Demonstrated ability to engage customers and manage their inquiries effectively.
  • Core computer and administration skills. Experience with basic office systems such as Outlook, Teams, and Word is required.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team. Pursues targets, maintains quality, and handles challenging inquiries with patience, prioritising supporters' interests.
  • A great listener and communicator. Actively listens, balances friendliness with professionalism, adapts communication, and clearly explains complex situations.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and resilient. Comfortable in fast‐paced settings, meets objectives with high quality, handles tough inquiries patiently, and adapts to flexible schedules to prioritise supporters.

There is a practising Christian occupational requirement for this role, to promote Compassion's ethos and help others experience the faith‐based motivation of our work (see Compassion's Policy on Posts to be Held by Christians).

Location, hours, key dates and benefits

  • Office-based at Compassion House, Fleet, Hampshire, GU51 2UTH
  • Hours: 21–35 hours per week, starting from 21 hours per week to 35 hours per week.
  • Key Dates – Applications close: 10 am on 25 January 2026. Assessments begin 12 January 2026. Formal interviews start 19 January 2026 and are expected to conclude by 5 February 2026.
