About the role

We are seeking an accomplished senior events professional to provide immediate interim support to our Global Fundraising & Engagement team. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide continuity, direction and hands-on support across agreed priority areas during a period of transition.

This flexible assignment is expected to require 2 to 3 days per week. The working pattern may vary according to programme needs, agreed deliverables and key stakeholder meetings. An immediate or very prompt start is required. You will work across the UK and US fundraising markets, bringing structure, pace and senior-level judgement to priority activity. Initial priorities will include reviewing the existing events programme, confirming the forward plan, progressing priority donor events, both in-person and webinars, and maintaining stakeholder momentum during the transition.

Depending on the agreed scope and key deliverables, the Interim Global Senior Events Manager may focus on:

  • Strategic interim support - Maintain momentum across the global donor events programme, clarify priorities and provide confident advice to senior stakeholders and the Events Steering Group.
  • Priority event delivery - Lead the planning and delivery of selected in-person and digital activity, including donor receptions, VIP gatherings, briefings, webinars, immersive visits and legacy events.
  • Donor engagement - Work with Philanthropy, Mid-Level, Legacy and country teams to create audience-specific experiences that support cultivation, stewardship and donor progression.
  • Programme coordination - Bring together colleagues across markets and time zones, maintaining clear plans, decisions, responsibilities and communications.
  • Operational oversight - Manage agreed budgets, suppliers, venues, speakers, guest arrangements, CRM tracking, risks and on-the-day delivery to a high professional standard.
  • Insight and handover - Establish clear objectives and measures of success, capture learning from activity and leave robust plans and documentation for the permanent postholder.

Flexibility to travel to London and other event locations in the UK to prepare for and deliver events is required. Reasonable travel and event-related expenses agreed in advance will be reimbursed separately from the day rate, in line with Compassion’s expenses policy.

About you

You will be an experienced interim consultant or senior events professional who can quickly understand a complex global environment, identify what needs attention and deliver with minimal supervision. You will combine strategic thinking with a willingness to take hands-on ownership of priority events and stakeholder relationships.

We are particularly interested in consultants who can bring:

  • A strong track record of leading and delivering high-value donor, philanthropy, legacy or supporter engagement events, both in person and digitally.
  • Experience providing senior-level interim or consultancy support within fundraising, membership, the charity sector or another complex mission-led environment.
  • The ability to rapidly assess priorities, bring structure to a busy programme and balance strategic advice with hands-on delivery.
  • Confidence working with senior leaders, donors, international colleagues, speakers, partners and suppliers across cultures and time zones.
  • Excellent project, budget and stakeholder management skills, with sound judgement, creativity and close attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office and virtual event platforms.
  • A genuine connection with Compassion’s mission and the ability to communicate our impact clearly.

If you don’t meet every requirement but believe you could thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.
