Role type: Part time, 3.5 days per week; fixed term from 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027
Location: Godalming, UK (hybrid working pattern, 1x day in the office per week)
Salary: £44,000 to £47,500 FTE, pro rata. Please note that the actual gross salary for the fixed-term contract period is up to £19,191, depending on skills and experience.
About the role
As our Senior Advocacy Manager, you’ll help end factory farming by leading UK political engagement on food systems change, with a particular focus on nitrogen and nature-friendly farming. You’ll work closely with the Chief Public Affairs Manager, and build relationships with Parliamentarians, Government officials and other key stakeholders, helping to influence policy and legislation in support of better outcomes for farmed animals, people and the planet.
As our Senior Advocacy Manager, you’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Leading UK political engagement on nitrogen and food systems: Engaging Parliamentarians, civil servants and policy stakeholders to maximise political opportunities and support Compassion’s End.It work.
- Building support for policy and legislative change: Working with political parties, coalitions and external partners to advance nature-friendly farming and improved welfare for confined farmed animals.
- Coordinating briefings, consultations and political analysis: Developing clear materials for decision-makers and identifying parliamentary, policy and campaign opportunities.
About you
In order to succeed as our Senior Advocacy Manager, you’ll need to bring strong experience of working in a UK elected body, such as Parliament, or within a Government department, alongside a good understanding of nitrogen and its role within food and farming systems. You will be confident using political opportunities to influence policy, legislation and public debate, and also able to build effective relationships with political stakeholders and external partners quickly.
What you’ll bring to the role:

- Knowledge of nitrogen and its role within food and farming systems.
- A track record of building relationships with political stakeholders and influencing policy, legislation or public debate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, persuasive briefings for different audiences.
- A collaborative, diplomatic and self-managed approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and handle sensitive issues constructively.
