Operations Manager - SEC | Full-Time / Permanent £38,000 + excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.

We're looking for an Operations Manager to lead all elements of catering and to deliver operational efficiency. This includes planning, presentation, and delivery of the food and beverage offer at the SEC, managing a team at high-profile events within our retail, hospitality, and restaurant business. Ensuring all standards are achieved and that we deliver best-in-class operations that continue to evolve operationally and technologically.

This role will see you meet with clients at an early stage, partner with our events planning team to fully plan events, and then deliver the events on the day. You will be there through setup, delivery, and debrief.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult effectively with senior stakeholders, contractors, and partners.
  • Actively maintain day-to-day contact with the venue client to enable the closest possible working relationships.
  • Support the sales team to develop financially sound bids and proposals.
  • Understand and support the ordering process and ensure delivery schedules are updated.
  • Responsible for non-live setup days and ensure all catering areas are ready and presentable during client show rounds.
  • Work in collaboration with the Logistics Manager to manage rotas, stock, and stock-taking schedules.
  • Display a positive guest attitude and be involved in initiatives including CSR, Sustainability, Equality, and diversity.
  • Attend training sessions and client meetings as required.
  • Deliver effective, motivational, and informative pre-shift briefings to wider teams.
  • Ensure Challenge 25 is strictly adhered to.
  • Report and take action on any health and safety hazards immediately.
  • Demonstrate initiative-taking working practice and a sense of urgency when required.
  • Actively deal with customer feedback in a positive manner.
  • Be prepared to provide progress updates to the Head of Department.

Finance Responsibilities:

  • Drive spends per transaction values through maximising sales opportunities.
  • Manage all aspects of labour scheduling and work closely with HR and Staffing team.
  • Actively monitor and improve operating standards within the Concessions area.
  • Ensure compliance with company profit protection procedures.
  • Accountable for PCI DSS control and Profit Protection measures.

People Responsibilities:

  • Manage, train, and performance of all staff within the department.
  • Build positive team morale through active communication.
  • Ensure staff receive regular feedback on performance.
  • Participate in recruitment, including interviewing.

Business Development:

  • Recommend and develop new products that reflect current trends.
  • Develop new service styles and business opportunities.

  • A minimum of 2 years in a Management role with event P&L accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong IT Skills and knowledge of Health, Safety, and Food Safety.
  • Must possess strong commercial acumen.
  • Able to motivate and inspire people at all levels.
  • Fully flexible and willing to adapt to ever-changing environments.
