Teach children aged 11‑17 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver a curriculum spanning Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3 and GCSE in English.
- Build professional, nurturing and positive relationships with students.
- Manage complex and challenging behaviours, using crisis‑management techniques.
- Design creative, academically engaging lessons that meet the needs of individual pupils.
- Collaborate with specialists, parents/carers, local authority teams and colleagues to secure outcomes.
- Provide input in developing academic curriculum and extra‑curricular opportunities.
The Right Person
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Postgraduate Education Certificate (PGCE).
- Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
- Excellent, efficient and emotionally intelligent communication skills.
- Ability to teach a subject specialism to GCSE or equivalent vocational level.
- Strong desire to work inclusively within an emotionally literate environment, supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Experience in crisis‑management, managing challenging behaviours and working with children with SEMH difficulties.
- Experience implementing a creative and academically engaging curriculum while maintaining high standards.
- Experience working effectively with hard‑to‑reach or disengaged families.
