Salary: Up to Β£55,000 overtime

Compass Point Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing business in Bury St Edmunds, seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias. This role is critical in ensuring all production and utility equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. You will be part of a skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining high-performing production lines within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Shift Pattern

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Significant time off - effectively around 50% of the year free when accounting for rest days and holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and repair production, processing, and utility equipment
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and handover of new machinery
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and breakdown reports
  • Actively participate in the BOPEX / continuous improvement programme
  • Ensure full compliance with site procedures, safety regulations, and company policies
  • Identify, report, and stop unsafe operations, using PPE as required

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment (e.g. large-capacity product handling, conveying, elevating systems)
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including reading electrical drawings and schematics
  • Electrical installation experience with relevant qualifications (NVQ, HNC/HND, or Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar)
  • Experience working continental or 12-hour shift patterns is highly desirable
  • A proactive, safety-conscious, and methodical approach to engineering
