About the Role
We are looking for an Intern to join our London team in Winter/Spring 2026 for a period of up to 6 months. Interns typically join during or shortly after completing their Master’s degree. Please indicate your availability and preferred duration in your cover letter. This is an opportunity for candidates with a strong quantitative background to apply their skills to complex energy and carbon market modelling, financial modelling, regulatory analysis, and strategic advisory in a leading global economic consultancy.
You will be based at Compass Lexecon’s central Paris office, and work closely with other consultants and experts located across our European offices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Contribute to economic and financial analysis in the context of the energy transition towards low carbon technologies
- Support the development and enhancement of our internal market and financial models (decarbonisation pathways, asset valuation, policy impact assessments, contract pricing)
- Conduct market research and policy analysis on electricity, gas, and carbon markets issues
- Work in an international team on cross-office projects with colleagues across Europe, gaining exposure to diverse regulatory environments and energy systems
- Present insights to senior team members and support delivery to clients (drafting, contribution to client presentations and expert evidence)
Skills and Profile Sought:
- Currently undertaking or recently completed a Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Financial modelling and quantitative skills; hands-on experience with financial models (asset valuation, project finance, transaction support) is a plus
- Proficiency in MS applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with programming tools such as Python or R is a plus
- Fluency in French and English is required, other languages are a plus; German-speaking skills are highly appreciated
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
- Previous internship experience in the energy sector is desirable.
