Overview

The Role: To support a 29-year-old gentleman who has Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Difficulties and Severe Visual Impairment. He is looking for a deputy team leader to join his well-established long-standing team, to provide 24-hour support. You will have additional responsibilities for supporting a team of carers, and this involves helping to train, and to manage and support all team members. You will also be required to provide care in his family home, but also to access the community for a variety of different activities to ensure he lives the most fulfilling life. Full training to be given to the successful applicant.

Main Duties

  • To support with hydrotherapy.
  • To support with music therapy.
  • To access the community.
  • To provide all personal care tasks.
  • To administer regular and emergency medication.
  • To facilitate social and sensory activities.
  • To provide small domestic chores, such as managing laundry, and keeping the living area tidy and clean.
  • To provide manual handling.
  • To tube feed and, if required, administer oxygen therapy, and suction.
  • To cross-cover sickness and holiday of other staff.

  • Experience in delivering physiotherapy and sensory stimulation is desirable.
  • 2 years’ experience required working with young people with sensory impairment, learning disability, physical disability and epilepsy is essential.
  • Clean driving licence is desirable.

Requirements & Conditions

  • The position is subject to a DBS, and satisfactory completion of initial training and a one month’s probationary period.
  • Hours: 3 – 4 late/early weekday shifts (7:30 – 16:00, and 10:30 – 20:00) per week, and one weekend a month. These could be part-time or full-time and could be combined with night shifts on a rolling 4-week cycle.
  • Pay: £12.35 per hour
  • Unsocial hours paid at enhanced rates, and weekends.
  • Holiday Entitlement: You will be entitled to 28 days paid holiday (including bank holidays) pro rata according to number of shifts worked.
