Self–employed Personal Assistant (PA) for care support Dorset/260626
To support a 72-year-old man, who has mild vascular dementia and global development delay, with life administration, household tasks and social engagement/companionship.
Main Duties:
To provide complementary additional support in the following areas (noting that personal care tasks are performed over multiple daily visits by a professional care agency):
Administration:
- Review of scheduled day/week activities as detailed in a wall-mounted ‘MEMOplanner’ electronic diary
- Prompting regarding time, location, cost and travel arrangements for scheduled events (as detailed in ‘MEMOplanner’)
- Occasional update of activities in ‘MEMOplanner’ if needed (normally updated remotely by family)
- Weekly review of freezer ready meal and cleaning/toiletry product stocks, providing feedback to family for replenishment
Household Tasks:
Cleaning:
- Hoover, dust and tidy throughout lounge/diner, bedroom and hall
- Clean floor and wipe surfaces in kitchen and bathroom
- Clean sink, bath and toilet in bathroom
Tidying:
- Hang flannels, towels and floor mats in bathroom and change as required
- Check/tidy hall and kitchen cupboards and clean as required
Sorting/checking:
- Sort clothing, bedding and towels and return to cupboards/drawers (laundry tasks are conducted by care agency)
- Provide feedback to family when repair/replacement needed
General discussion, interests include:
- Old comedies (Dad’s Army, Morecombe and Wise, Last of the Summer Wine)
- Gilbert & Sullivan ‘comic opera’
- Sport on TV, including snooker and horseracing
