Are you someone who loves helping people, staying organised, and being at the heart of patient care? We're looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Care Coordinator to join our team at Compass House. This is a full time, 12 month fixed term maternity cover role (34-38 hours per week), with the potential to become permanent for the right person. The working pattern is over four days, 8am – 6pm, and includes Fridays. Pay starts at £12.81 per hour, rising to £12.95 after successful completion of probation.
Main duties of the job:
- The role is the first step of our patient journey to support people to get the help and care that they need.
- It involves a mixture of working on the front desk, answering calls and administrative work.
- Booking appointments, dealing with all general enquiries, explaining procedures and making new and follow‑up appointments.
- Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non‑disruptive manner.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required.
- Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
- Processing referrals.
- Dealing with insurance reports/requests for private work and copy notes through paper requests and iGPR.

Job responsibilities:
- Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
