About the Role

We\’re looking for a passionate and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic team at RNAS Yeovilton! Working with ESS, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, you\’ll help deliver outstanding food and service in a rewarding environment where teamwork and quality are everything.

As Sous Chef, you\’ll support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen day-to-day – ensuring delicious, beautifully presented dishes are served every time. This is a hands‑on role for someone who loves cooking, leading, and creating a positive kitchen atmosphere!

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all kitchen operations when the Head Chef is away
  • Ensure every dish meets our high standards of quality and presentation
  • Maintain top-tier food safety and hygiene practices
  • Lead by example to keep the kitchen spotless and efficient
  • Motivate, support, and guide kitchen staff with a hands‑on approach
  • Assist with recruitment and training of chefs and kitchen porters
  • Communicate regularly with the Head Chef regarding stock and supplies

About You

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred (but not essential!)
  • Great communication and leadership skills
  • Able to handle manual tasks like lifting and moving stock
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • A passion for food, teamwork, and high standards!
