This role profile is a guide to the work you will initially be required to undertake. Overview of the role
This role requires a highly organised Nutritionist to work within Compass’ Education sector, Chartwells. The role works within a large team of registered nutritionists to drive our wellbeing agenda across the schools within Hampshire. This role is dedicated to the Hampshire County Council contract which is made up of 189 schools, a mixture of primary and secondary schools. Occasionally this role will also support the other Compass Education subsectors to allow for variety and gaining further experience.
The role has these key responsibilities:
- Delivering educational sessions to children and young adults aged 4-16 years
- Advising on and managing allergen requests and processes for pupils and students
- Writing medical diet menus for children with an allergy or intolerance
- Delivering nutrition and allergen training to pupils, students, academics and catering teams
- Promoting school meals and the benefits by engaging with clients, parents and pupils
- Auditing our catering teams when visiting the school to ensure accurate allergen management, waste management and compliance to school food legislation and our food philosophy.
This role will form part of a small local team of Nutritionists, forming part of our larger Nutrition and Sustainability Team.

Person Specification
- Degree or qualification in nutrition (accredited by the Association for Nutrition or equivalent)
- Knowledge and experience of food allergies and intolerances
- Confident presenter to large audiences of children of adults
- Ability to translate complex nutrition information into simple messaging
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage high workload
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholders
- Team player, demonstrating a can do attitude
- Keen interest in sustainability is desirable
- Passion for keeping up to date with latest nutrition research and legislation
- Must be willing to travel and stay away from home occasionally
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
