Overview:
Venue: The Kia Oval is an international cricket ground in Kennington, in the London Borough of Lambeth, South London. The Oval has been the home ground of Surrey County Cricket Club since it was opened in 1845. It was the first ground in England to host international Test cricket in September 1880.
Key Responsibilities:
Role Purpose:
- Reporting to the Head of Catering Operations whilst working closely with various internal and external stakeholders including the Concessions Manager.
Retail Management:
- Oversee the delivery of all match-day operations in all retail catering areas.
- Work with internal culinary team to deliver a premium retail food operation.
- Plan and deliver an appropriate beverage offering for each demographic.
- Ensure all match day paperwork is appropriate and compliant.
- Forecast all retail matchday labour planners.
- Plan out the layout of the concourse for each matchday.
- Deliver brand activations and experiences for customers.
- Consider technology to solve operational inefficiencies.
- Support Net Zero goals with innovative ideas.
Food and Beverage Partner Management:
- Deliver an appropriate concession offering for attendance demographics.
- Plan matchday locations for partners.
- Ensure food audits on all traders each matchday.
- Collect and share relevant information from each trader.
Finance:
- Strong understanding of financial reports and P&Ls.
- Accountability for all retail related fixed operating costs.
- Manage retail labour planners and ensure alignment to budget.
- Provide analysis of data to support decisions.
- Ensure all EPOS procedures are carried out.
Health & Safety:
- Maintain H&S compliance and lead a health & safety culture.
- Ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to.
- Comply with all allergy procedures and safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol processes.
People:
- Enable team members to develop and grow in their role.
- Deliver inductions and training to the variable retail team.
- Build and develop an effective retail management team.
- Communicate with all area managers and team members to build positive morale.
- Develop staff incentives and engagement tools.
Person Spec:
- Minimum 5 years in retail management experience in a large scale or sports venue/stadia.
- Strong operational experience with a passion for F&B.
- Striving to offer the best customer experience.
- Highly confident with good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to influence at all stakeholder levels (desirable).
- Personal license holder (desirable).
- High degree of IT proficiency.
