Pay & Hours

  • £29362 per annum
  • 37.5 hours per week (5 out of 7 days)
  • 1 weekend in 4 (on a 2-week rotating rota)
  • Early shift: 06:30 – 14:00
  • Late shift: 11:00 – 20:00
  • Meal service times:
    • Breakfast – 07:00 to 08:30
    • Lunch – 12:00 to 13:30
    • Dinner – 17:30 to 18:30

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our friendly catering team at Kendrew Barracks.

You’ll play a key role in delivering fresh, high-quality meals for service personnel across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve delicious, high-quality meals
  • Support the Head Chef with menu planning, ordering, and kitchen operations
  • Maintain strict food hygiene and safety standards
  • Manage stock control and minimise waste
  • Lead, train, and motivate junior kitchen team members
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a similar kitchen role (Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie)
  • Computer literate and confident with kitchen systems
  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Team player with great communication skills
  • Passion for quality food and customer satisfaction ❤️
  • Flexibility to work early and late shifts, including 1 weekend in 4
