The predicted salary is between 18900 - 23100 £ per year.

We're currently recruiting a dedicated Driver to help ensure the smooth running of the operations on a part time basis, contracted to 40 hours per week. It is a 5 over 7 role with variable shifts. Job is in ESS Government services at West Midlands Police and HS2. Please note there is a police vetting requirement and without passing this you are unable to work with us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer and Client Satisfaction
    • To be polite, professional and friendly at all times with customers, clients and colleagues.

    • Effectively participate in a team of drivers rotating the driving duties.
    • Observe all regulations governing the driving and use of vehicles on the public highway and to be aware of all employee responsibilities under Health & Safety at Work legislation.
    • Undertake daily checks as are reasonable to ensure that the vehicle to be driven complies with legal requirements and is in good running order. Report any defects or accidents, which may occur immediately.
    • Maintain both the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
    • Work to pre-set schedules, understand and prioritise any other items requested by the service users.
    • Represent and promote the professional image of the client to service users.

  • Operational Excellence

    • To assist in all food production areas with basic food preparation in accordance with menu cycle requirements.
    • To serve customers with hot and cold food and beverages from the Jiffy van during service times.
    • To ensure all displays, counters and seating areas comply with company and statutory health and hygiene requirements.
    • To assist in the preparation of hospitality as required.
    • To clean all work areas during and after use and remove all waste to the appropriate area.
    • To observe and comply with all company and unit procedures relating to cash handling and security, reporting any issues to the catering manager.
    • To maintain temperature records as required and to report any variance.
    • To receive stock, store and check for quality and quantity, ensuring that all stock is dated and rotated.
    • To operate machinery as shown and trained to do so, ensuring that the equipment is used safely and in accordance with current regulations and company policies.
  • Health & Safety
    • Complete the One Compass Welcome prior to the commencement of employment.
    • Receive, read and understand the contents of the Employee Guide to Working with Compass.
    • Taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or what they fail to do.
    • Co-operate with your line manager on HSE matters.
    • Correctly use work equipment and personal protective equipment in accordance with training and instructions provided.
    • Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for HSE purposes.
    • Report HSE hazards, accidents, incidents, illness and diseases to your line manager.
    • Complete Level 2 HSE e-learning “Working Safely” (and Working Safely with Food, if appropriate) within 20 weeks of commencing employment.

My Service Commitments

  • May be required to deal with spillage of load items.
  • Daily exposure to dirt and dust whilst loading, unloading and handling goods, which include food products.
  • Daily exposure to driving vehicles in a variety of road and traffic conditions, including vehicle, road and traffic noise and in varying weather conditions.
  • Daily interaction with other road users with exposure to verbal aggression on average twice a week.
  • During inclement weather it is necessary to spend periods of at least one hour exposed to the elements whilst loading and unloading the vehicle.

Person Specification

  • Smart appearance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-starter and motivated.
  • Good organiser/planner.
  • Adaptable to a wide range of environments.
  • Able to perform moderate physical effort.
  • Concentration is required to drive for long periods each day in a variety of vehicles.
  • Knowledge of local area and the ability to read street plans and road maps.
  • Perform short-term planning where there is a requirement to agree routes when conditions demand, in order to take account of such matters which affect driving conditions, including weather, traffic conditions and accidents.

Essential

  • Clean driving licence, held for at least 5 years.
  • Must be physically fit - able to manually lift objects.
  • Able to recognise and understand confidential and sensitive information.
  • Good verbal communication skills in order to be able to liaise with a wide range of customers and colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • You must be smart, polite and well presented at all times.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong team player.

Desirable

  • Past experience in a similar role.
