About the Role
We’re looking for a Night Manager to join the Front Office team at Milton Hill House, part of the Venues Collection. This key role oversees operations throughout the night, leads the nights team, and maintains high service and security standards to ensure the hotel is fully prepared for the day ahead.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee hotel operations throughout the night and act as the main point of contact on shift.
- Lead, support, and supervise the nights team to ensure the shift runs smoothly and professionally.
- Take responsibility for the safety, security, and general welfare of guests, team members, and the building overnight.
- Complete the night audit accurately and ensure all end‑of‑day and overnight procedures are followed correctly.
- Manage guest queries, requests, complaints, and any overnight incidents in a calm and professional manner.
- Carry out regular security checks, floor walks, and patrols across the hotel.
- Ensure all Front Office standards, cash handling procedures, billing processes, and guest security procedures are followed at all times.
- Support the day teams by preparing clear handovers, highlighting any issues, and ensuring the hotel is set up for the following morning.
- Assist with reservations and room allocations where required.
- Plan the rota for the nights team.
- Monitor overnight arrivals, no‑shows, room moves, late check‑ins, and any outstanding billing or operational issues.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, fire alarms, or other situations requiring escalation overnight.
- Maintain strong communication with Duty Managers, senior management, and other departments as needed.
Ideal Night Manager
- Have previous experience in a hotel Front Office or Night Leadership role.
- Be confident leading a team and taking ownership of a shift independently.
- Have a strong understanding of hotel night procedures, guest service, and operational standards.
- Be highly organised, reliable, and able to stay calm under pressure.
- Be confident handling guest complaints, overnight issues, and operational decision‑making.
- Have good attention to detail, particularly around night audit, billing, and reporting.
- Understand the importance of security, safeguarding, and compliance procedures overnight.
- Be confident using hotel systems and completing administrative tasks accurately.
- Have a proactive approach and be willing to step in wherever needed to support the operation.
