Overall Purpose of the Role
To finance business partner the leadership of the Grazing business (MD, OD & Head of Food). A high profile & influential role, delivering commercial support to a newly acquired business unit. Through effective business partnering, the role will continuously drive service levels, cost effectiveness & add value to undertaken commercial activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Business partner the Managing Director, Operations Director & Head of Food, ensuring strong commercial & operational decision making.
- Provide continuous commercial & strategic support onsite at Grazing HQ & client sites, in order to support key business decisions & ensure successful delivery of the finance function.
- Manage financial risks & opportunities, both as they materialise as well as in a preventative capacity.
- Develop strong relationships with key internal & external stakeholders, including but not limited to: Grazing management, wider Compass teams (finance & beyond), customers, clients & suppliers.
- Preparation & review of annual budgets & forecasts.
- Lead the month end close & posting of journals.
- Preparation of & review of monthly management information, including in-depth variance & root cause analysis.
- Prepare the monthly business review pack.
- Completion & attendance of balance sheet reviews, ensuring compliance with Group Accounting Manual.
- Utilise data management, analytics & reporting tools to drive financial & operational performance.
- Work with the wider finance team to continually develop KPIs & ensure that end users are focusing on the right metrics to drive profitable growth.
- Promote working capital improvements through timely, accurate contract billing & active management of debt ledgers.
- Financial oversight for all contract amendments, pricing changes & extensions/retentions.
- Challenge & appraise investment decisions.
- Build, maintain & deploy a commercial bid model, utilised for new business proposals (e.g. tenders), which constantly evolves through challenging underlying assumptions.
- Deliver proactive, ad-hoc financial analysis to support business decision making.
Person Specification
- Relevant degree or equivalent Qualification; ACA, ACCA, CIMA.
- At least 3 years post qualification experience, preferably in a business facing finance role.
- Business process re-engineering experience.
- Experience of delivering proactive, relevant and insightful business decision support.
- High numeracy and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate oral and written information concisely and logically.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate information.
