Lead kitchen operations at St Charles 6th Form, ensuring exceptional food experiences for children and maintaining high standards in a busy secondary school environment.
Responsibilities
- Managing the main aspects of the kitchens, including Health & Safety, Training & Development, and keeping the Unit Bookwork up to date.
- Receiving and managing food deliveries and storage.
- Developing strong relationships with clients, team, and customers to ensure catering contracts grow.
- Planning and preparing daily menus.
- Managing kitchen staff to maintain high standards.
- Managing supplier ordering and weekly stock taking.
- Adhering to recipes, plate presentation, and cooking standards.
- Training kitchen staff on preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Controlling budget and minimizing wastage.
- Ensuring kitchen operations meet health and safety standards.
- Monitoring the quality of products and services provided.
- Resolving customer queries promptly and professionally.
- Applying knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Demonstrating excellent leadership and management skills.
Qualifications
- Proven work experience as an Executive Chef/Chef Manager in a busy secondary school or similar.
- Excellent record of kitchen management.
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
- Experience in training kitchen staff on preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Provide two employment/character references.
- Enhanced DBS/Criminal Record Check will be conducted (paid by employer).
