We're currently recruiting a dedicated Flexible Labour Operative to help ensure the smooth running of the operations in 14Forty on a full time basis, contracted to 37.5 hours per week.
As a Flexible Labour Operative you will support the Labour & Cleaning Manager in delivering the Authorised Gas Testing (AGT) contract safely, efficiently and in line with site procedures. The role also provides industrial labour support across site projects and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Authorised Gas Tester (AGT)
- Conduct gas tests for oxygen, flammability and toxic gases as directed.
- Monitor work areas for changing conditions and potential hazards.
- Stop work immediately where conditions become unsafe and ensure compliance with permit controls.
- Verify permits are valid and all work parties are adhering to site requirements.
- Support safe completion of hot works and monitor areas following completion.
- Train and mentor new Gas Testers.
- Promote a strong safety culture, intervening where necessary and reporting breaches of site procedures.
- Provide general industrial labouring support across the site.
- Operate and inspect FLTs, reporting defects and safely loading/unloading materials.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and support waste management activities.
- Support chemical movements, replenishment and spill response activities.
- Undertake standby duties and assist with site operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with permits, risk assessments, method statements and site safety controls.
- Liaise with client representatives to understand work requirements and elevate any issues outside approved documentation.
- Select and use appropriate PPE for all tasks.
Health, Safety & Training
- Demonstrate a positive, flexible and professional approach to work.
- Maintain high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) training in Confined Space Entry, H2S Awareness, Escape Sets, Asbestos Awareness, COSHH and Manual Handling.
- Report hazards, incidents, accidents and near misses promptly.
- Attend safety briefings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential experience required:
- Previous experience in an Authorised Gas Tester, Industrial Labourer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of permits to work, risk assessments and site safety procedures.
- Knowledge of gas detection equipment and confined space working.
- Experience within a refinery, petrochemical, manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and high standards of work.
