As a Kitchen Assistant at MoE CPK in Hawke's Bay, you’ll assist with the preparation, reheating, and dispatch of meals for schools, ensuring compliance with food safety and health standards. This hands-on role involves working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and teamwork are essential. This is a Permanent position with guaranteed hours of a minimum 6 hours per week during the school terms. Shifts start at 4.00 am, so this would be ideal for early starters.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and store delivered meals, monitor temperatures, and ensure HACCP compliance.
  • Prepare and reheat meals according to safety and quality standards.
  • Pack and dispatch meals for delivery to schools.
  • Maintain clean and hygienic kitchen and dining areas, including equipment and waste management.
  • Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A team player with a flexible, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Physically fit, reliable, and able to work autonomously when required.
  • Good communication skills and commitment to food safety practices.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage.
  • NZQA Food Handling Certificate (Units 167 & 168) desirable.
  • A valid and full Class 1 NZ Driver’s Licence, a clean police check, and the ability to work unsupervised.
