Work in a children’s home that makes a positive, lasting difference to children’s lives. This role is ideal for experienced Residential Workers or Youth Workers, as well as those with no previous experience who are looking to build a career in residential care.

We are looking for determined, caring and thoughtful people to become long-lasting, significant adults in a child’s life, and this could be the role for you.

Qualifications

  • Age 22 years or above (to meet Ofsted regulations).
  • Caring, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with others.
  • Valid manual driving licence.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

Previous experience is not essential for this role. Our Skills to Care induction includes 2 separate weeks of classroom-based training and a week of shadow shifts to prepare for the new role.

Responsibilities

  • Help facilitate children’s activities and appointments, supporting them in all aspects of their lives. Ensure their health and wellbeing, safeguarding them at all times.
  • Meet a variety of children and young people, some of whom may require high levels of supervision and support.
  • Support the wider team with a range of domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and food shopping.
  • Create timetables, manage paperwork and write reports.

  • ÂŁ50 per sleep-in.
  • 224 hours holiday, gradually increasing to 248 hours after 4 years working with us.
  • Additional 3.5 days of leave (one for your birthday, one for health and wellbeing, one to volunteer and a half day for festive celebrations).
  • Service awards: ÂŁ200 (2 years), ÂŁ400 (5 years) and ÂŁ600 (10 years) plus up to ÂŁ500 special recognition award for outstanding practice.

  • Monthly REACH award up to ÂŁ150.

The successful applicants will be appointed subject to references and enhanced DBS check.
