Role Overview: Supervising Social Worker at Compass Community (Compass Fostering). Office base in Syston, covering Derbyshire. This hybrid position offers a mix of office and home‑based work with visits to carers.
Key responsibilities & expectations:
- Have an approach that is reflective and creative when working with foster carers and young people to inspire them to reach their full potential.
- Manage a caseload of typically 13 fostering families, providing support and guidance when necessary and helping them develop their skills.
- Provide wrap‑around support to foster carers, including participation in an out of hours on‑call service.
- Actively contribute to the growth and development of the fostering service.
- Work in a fostering‑related social work role or child social care, such as a looked‑after children’s team.
- Demonstrate evidence of identifying the needs of young people.
- Apply knowledge of fostering regulations, childcare law, and safeguarding issues.
- Make objective professional assessments of children and young people.
- Have access to a car and a valid driving licence.
Qualifications:
- Relevant professional qualification in Social Work.
- Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Experience in fostering or child social care.
