Compass Fostering are currently seeking a Family Support Worker who shares our passion for making a difference to children’s lives. Role Overview

As a Family Support Worker with Compass Fostering, you will work with children facing challenges, and carers who need practical and emotional support to help them to strengthen positive relationships with children in their care. This is a new and exciting opportunity for a Family Support Worker to join our skilled social work team to influence, and effect change within our organisation. This role is a part time position of 22.5 hours per week. We are looking for someone to be based in or around Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that we provide outstanding care and the best possible outcomes for our children and young people in our care.
  • To work in collaboration with all stakeholders and strive to ensure that the children and young people in our care reach their full potential.
  • To undertake direct work with children to inform and contribute to support plans for foster carers and children, as required.
  • To attend and participate in planning meetings or reviews, as required.
  • To promote child participation and the voice of children within the North East and Yorkshire region.
  • To promote carers support groups and seeking feedback from carers to improve services.
  • To work collaboratively with Therapeutic services and the allocated SSW to improve children’s experiences and promote stability of care.
  • To understand and contribute to the growth and continued development of the Fostering service.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a family support, social work, or similar role is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with families.
  • A flexible and non-judgmental approach, with the ability to adapt to different family dynamics.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
  • A valid driving license and access to your own vehicle (mileage expenses will be reimbursed).
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • Some weekend and evening work will be required.

It is essential that you:

  • Have an approach that is reflective and creative when working with our foster carers and young people to inspire them to reach their full potential.
  • Can manage your own workload working with carers and children, giving support and guidance when necessary and help them to develop their skills.
  • Are passionate and want to actively contribute to the growth and development of the Fostering service.
  • Have worked in a fostering related support role and/or children’s social care setting.
  • Have a good knowledge of fostering regulations, childcare law, and safeguarding issues.
  • Have access to a car and a valid driving licence.
