Therapeutic Services at Compass has an embedded record of successful evidence of our Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma (AHCT) approach which has already made a difference in the lives of hundreds of young people. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated independent Occupational Therapists, whose professional background and training are underpinned by theories of working with trauma, attachment and loss. You will have a good working knowledge of supporting children and young people in the care sector.

You will have passion, strong emotional intelligence and an understanding of the importance of collaborative working to achieve the best for children in the care system along with an understanding that assessments and therapeutic interventions may at times require flexible, creative and mindful techniques. To enable the advancement of our approach of Assessing and Healing Complex Trauma (AHCT) you will join together with our team to ensure that bespoke assessments, individual therapy, group therapy, therapeutic interventions and resources are provided for our children who have lived with the complexities of trauma, loss and abuse. This may also include those with neurodiversity and learning disabilities.

Recognising the destructive elements that trauma plays on child development, our team promotes a philosophy of holistic support and working together both in our organisation and with outside agencies. You will be included in Team Around the Child Meetings.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – ROLE SPECIFIC

  • Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification
  • Registration with an approved professional body
  • A clinical supervisor in place externally
  • Passionate about working with children in the care system and proven track record of delivering successful outcomes for children (minimum 3 years post‐graduate)
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Strong report‐writing skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Flexibility and creativity in therapeutic techniques
  • Understanding responsibilities in protecting their own health, safety and well‐being and that of their colleagues and others
  • Keep up to date with developments within the profession by attending appropriate courses, conferences and meetings as per your CPD requirements
