We are looking for Teaching Assistants who will work closely with students requiring complex and challenging behaviours. The TA will support teaching, learning and pastoral care in a child‑centred environment.
Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning activities.
- Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
- Manage classroom resources.
- Accompany children on educational trips and visits.
- Assist children who struggle socially, including during lunch.
- Utilise basic knowledge of English and maths to support pupils.
- Maintain child safety during heightened behaviours using strong behaviour‑management skills and excellent communication.
- Create, play and teach games to develop social skills or further learning.
- Develop classroom displays that support teaching and create an exceptional learning environment.
- Celebrate pupils’ successes.
- Participate in therapeutic training sessions and reflect on challenging periods.
Qualifications
- Good basic understanding of English and maths.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with pupils, staff and parents.
- Experience or willingness to work with children exhibiting challenging behaviour.
- Strong behaviour‑management skills and flexibility.
- Willingness to obtain or hold an Enhanced DBS check.
