We are looking for a Mathematics specialist teacher to work at a new school that supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as autism, ADHD and communication difficulties. The role demands a teacher who places the child at the centre of decision‑making and who brings a therapeutic, nurturing approach to learning.
Responsibilities
- Build professional, nurturing and positive relationships with students and motivate them through engaging mathematics lessons.
- Plan and deliver a mathematics curriculum covering Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
- Collaborate with national subject champions and other educators to adapt instruction for children with complex needs and behaviours.
- Manage challenging behaviours with consistency, flexibility and a non‑judgemental style.
- Participate in school decision‑making, advocate for each child and contribute to curriculum and extracurricular planning.
Qualifications
- Qualified maths teacher (or equivalent) with experience in a special educational needs setting.
- Experience working with children who have SEMH and SEND (e.g. autism, ADHD).
- Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity and to comply with safeguarding procedures.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and therapeutic training.
