An established SEMH school in Little Clacton is looking to appoint a Teacher of BTEC Work Skills to support students in developing key employability and life skills. The successful candidate will deliver practical lessons that prepare students for employment, further education and independent living.

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher or experienced vocational instructor
  • Experience teaching BTEC or employability-based qualifications (desirable)
  • Experience working with SEMH or SEND learners is advantageous

About the School

We are a small, specialist SEND school that was set up to provide purposeful learning for students between the ages of 11 and 17. We offer education in a therapeutic environment for young people who have previously struggled in mainstream provision. CCS Essex is based in a tranquil, rural location in Little Clacton, Essex, accommodated in five classrooms, a separate therapy room, cooking facilities, outdoor space, and a PE area. Our students have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and many also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. All staff receive extensive therapeutic training and support, and we adopt a trauma‑and‑attachment informed, closely triangulated approach that places the child at the centre of decision‑making.
