Teaching Assistants at Compass Community School Mountfields Park support children with complex and challenging behaviours in an independent specialist day school. They work closely with education and therapy professionals to create a safe, engaging learning environment for boys and girls aged 7 to 17 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well as additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities such as Autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.

Our Teaching Assistants will:

  • Support teaching and learning.
  • Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Manage classroom resources.
  • Take children on educational trips and visits.
  • Share lunch with children who struggle socially.
  • Possess a good basic understanding of English and Maths.
  • Keep children safe, especially when behaviours are heightened, using strong behaviour‑management skills and excellent communication.
  • Create, play and teach games to develop social skills and learning.
  • Design displays that support teaching and create an exceptional learning environment.
