Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care Home (Solo EBD)

Location: Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire (near Enfield) Salary: £60,000–£80,000 per annum + Performance Bonus Job Type: Full-time | Permanent

Build a Home, Not Just Manage One

This is a rare opportunity to establish and lead a brand-new children’s residential home from the very beginning.

Compass Care is opening a single-occupancy therapeutic children’s home for one young person with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We are looking for an ambitious Registered Manager who wants the opportunity to build something exceptional rather than inherit an existing service.

You will lead the home through Ofsted registration, recruitment, mobilisation and launch before welcoming the first young person.

As the Registered Manager, you will have genuine autonomy to create the home’s culture, recruit your own team and implement a therapeutic model that delivers outstanding outcomes.

The Role

You will

  • Lead the Ofsted registration and successful opening of the home.
  • Recruit, develop and inspire a high-performing residential care team.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and trauma-informed environment for one young person.
  • Deliver outstanding, child-centred care in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards. Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Manage staffing, rotas, supervision, budgets and compliance. Complete care planning, risk assessments and placement matching.
  • Build strong relationships with Local Authorities, social workers and external professionals.
  • Drive the home towards achieving a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.

About You

We are looking for someone who has

Essential

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
  • Experience as a Registered Manager or an experienced Deputy Manager ready to register.
  • Strong experience supporting children with EBD and complex behaviours.
  • Excellent knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes legislation.
  • Experience leading and developing teams. Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Why Join Compass Care?

This is far more than a standard Registered Manager role.

You’ll have the opportunity to

  • Build your own team from scratch. Shape the culture and therapeutic approach.
  • Work closely with experienced Directors and the Responsible Individual. Have genuine influence over how the organisation grows.
  • Progress into senior leadership as additional homes open. Spend more time focusing on children rather than unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Salary & Benefits
  • £60,000–£80,000 per year (depending on experience)
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Clear career progression
  • Supportive senior leadership team
  • Opportunity to shape a growing organisation from the ground up
