Overview

Supporting schools to nurture young minds – this is your chance to make a real difference. As a Training and Consultation Worker in the Derbyshire Early Intervention and Targeted Support Service (EITSS), you will play a central role in helping schools strengthen their approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. By delivering engaging training packages, you will equip staff with the confidence and skills to respond effectively to children and young people experiencing low level mental health needs.

Your work will also include providing professional consultation and coaching, guiding teachers and school teams to develop practical strategies tailored to individual pupils. Every conversation, training session and piece of guidance you deliver will help staff feel more prepared and young people feel more supported.

This is a role where partnership matters. You will collaborate with schools, families and community networks, contributing to a whole school approach that makes wellbeing visible, accessible and effective. From safeguarding responsibilities to signposting evidence-based resources, you will be part of a service that ensures every child and young person gets the right help at the right time.

You will be part of a values-driven team where integrity, collaboration and innovation shape everything we do. With opportunities for supervision, training and development, you will grow your skills while making a lasting difference in Derbyshire’s schools and communities.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated professional passionate about supporting the mental health and well-being of children and young people. With a qualification in mental health or work with children and young people (e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, counselling, or NVQ Level 4 equivalent) you bring a strong foundation to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Experience of delivering training packages and group or individual interventions with children, young people or young adults
  • Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks including Gillick competence and mental capacity
  • Experience of inter-agency and multi-disciplinary working
  • Understanding of emotional wellbeing, mental health and psychosocial interventions
  • Strong communication skills, able to build relationships with schools, families and professionals
  • Confidence managing sensitive information, risk and safeguarding responsibilities
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

It would also be helpful, but not essential, if you bring experience working with vulnerable groups, involving young people and families in service design, or delivering evidence-based interventions in education settings. A positive, solution focused approach and commitment to ongoing professional development will strengthen your application.

If you are ready to use your skills to empower schools and create lasting change in young people’s lives, we would love to hear from you.
