An established private hospital is seeking a Specialist Oncology Pharmacist to join its friendly and supportive Pharmacy team. This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist with oncology experience who is looking to develop their career within a highly patient-focused environment.
Unlike many oncology pharmacy positions where time is predominantly spent within aseptic services, this role offers significant face-to-face patient interaction and close collaboration with consultants, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering safe and effective oncology and haemato-oncology services while maintaining direct involvement in patient care.
The pharmacy team is small, collaborative and clinically focused, offering a supportive environment for pharmacists who want to broaden their specialist skills without moving into management responsibilities.
The RoleApproximately 80% of the role will focus on oncology and haemato-oncology services, including:
- Clinical screening and verification of SACT prescriptions and treatment regimens
- Supporting oncology and haemato-oncology patients throughout their treatment journey
- Medicines reconciliation and pharmaceutical care planning
- Providing specialist medicines information and patient counselling
- Working closely with consultants and nursing teams to support safe prescribing
- Coordinating oncology treatment orders and delivery
The remaining time will involve:
- Planning and preparing for upcoming oncology treatments
- Supporting ward-based clinical pharmacy services
- Assisting with dispensing and accuracy checking activities where required
The service currently operates across four oncology treatment days per week, with flexibility around how hours are structured.
About YouWe are keen to hear from pharmacists who have:
Essential Requirements- Current GPhC registration
- Post-registration hospital pharmacy experience
- Oncology pharmacy experience gained through rotational training or a dedicated oncology role

- A patient-centred approach and passion for delivering high-quality clinical care
- Haemato-oncology experience
- Ward-based clinical pharmacy experience
- Experience supporting training or competency development of colleagues

- Pharmacists looking to build upon rotational oncology experience
- Clinicians seeking greater patient interaction and clinical ownership
- Pharmacists looking to move away from the pressures and pace of larger NHS environments
- Individuals seeking a supportive setting where they can further develop their oncology expertise
The hiring team is open to considering pharmacists at an earlier stage of their oncology career and is not exclusively seeking highly experienced oncology specialists.
