Compass Associates are supporting a specialist provider of autism services in the recruitment of a Senior Autism Practitioner to join an established adult services team across South West Scotland. This opportunity would suit an experienced social care professional with autism experience who is looking to progress their leadership career within a specialist environment focused on quality, independence and person‑centred support.

As Senior Autism Practitioner, you will provide day‑to‑day leadership across a number of adult autism services, supporting frontline teams to deliver consistently high standards of care and support. Working closely with colleagues, families and external professionals, you will play a key role in maintaining service quality, developing staff capability and ensuring positive outcomes for the people supported.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching and mentoring a team of support staff
  • Supporting the delivery of person‑centred services for autistic adults
  • Working closely with families, multidisciplinary professionals and external agencies
  • Supporting recruitment, induction and staff development activities
  • Monitoring service quality and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring support plans are effectively implemented and reviewed
  • Promoting independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes
  • Participating in on‑call responsibilities as required

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring manager or experienced senior practitioner looking to further develop their leadership experience within a specialist autism service.

To be considered for this position, you will ideally possess:

  • Previous supervisory, senior practitioner or management experience within social care
  • Direct experience supporting autistic individuals
  • Strong coaching, mentoring and people development skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities
  • A relevant Health and Social Care qualification or willingness to work towards required qualifications
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Flexibility to support evenings, weekends and on‑call responsibilities when required
