- Drive occupancy, enquiries, conversions and private-pay admissions, building the home's profile within the local community.
- Manage the home's full financial accounts, budgets and staffing expenditure, ensuring strong financial performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with prospective residents, families, local advocates and community stakeholders.
- Lead and engage the management and wider staff team, with a particular focus on retention, wellbeing and reducing staff turnover.
- Maintain strong oversight of CQC compliance, governance and quality, working closely with the Care Manager.
- Lead investigations, disciplinary processes and other people-management matters where required.
- Ensure the home consistently delivers an exceptional customer experience for residents and their families.
- Identify opportunities to improve the home's commercial performance and bring new ideas to the senior management team.
- Oversee the ongoing refurbishment and investment programme within the home, ensuring the environment continues to meet the expectations of the premium private-pay market.
- The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced General Manager, Home Manager or Registered Manager with a proven track record within residential elderly care.
You will ideally have
- Strong experience managing a private-pay or premium elderly care environment.
- Demonstrable commercial understanding, including occupancy, budgets, staffing costs and financial performance.
- A proven ability to market a care home and convert enquiries into admissions.
- Strong understanding of CQC requirements and quality compliance.
- Experience managing investigations, disciplinaries, performance and employee relations.
- Excellent people-management and team engagement skills.
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused management style.
- The confidence to work autonomously and make decisions.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills, with an understanding of the high expectations of private-paying residents and their families.
- A relevant management qualification, such as NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management, is desirable.
- Nurse qualification is not essential, as this is a residential care environment.
- The Home
- All-inclusive private-pay model.
- Average weekly fee of approximately £1,750.
- Currently operating at around 82% occupancy, with significant opportunity to reach full occupancy.
- Strong enquiry-to-admission conversion rate of approximately 26-27%.
- Fully staffed with no agency usage for approximately three years.
- Dedicated Care Manager providing strong care and clinical oversight.
- Senior management presence within the home seven days a week.
- Significant ongoing investment into the home, including a £300,000 refurbishment programme.
- Planned improvements include enhanced dining facilities, a wellness suite, sensory areas and a refreshed reception.
- Supported by dedicated marketing, recruitment and front-of-house resources.
Why Join?
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious General Manager to take responsibility for an already successful home and drive it to its next stage of growth.
You will have genuine autonomy, direct access to senior leadership and the support of a wider organisation, whilst retaining the flexibility to make decisions and implement new ideas quickly.
The organisation places significant emphasis on team wellbeing, resident experience and commercial performance, with a supportive management structure and opportunities for progression across the wider group.
The role also offers a £10,000 annual incentive scheme, with payments linked to key performance areas including occupancy, financial performance, staffing retention and quality compliance.
