Salary: Circa £120,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus Scheme

This appointment is being managed exclusively by Compass Associates on behalf of a major not-for-profit elderly care organisation, who are seeking to appoint an Operations Director for their Central / Midlands region. The remit includes around 35 care homes, supported through 4 - 6 Regional Managers and wider regional support, leading a large scale workforce.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with both scale and strategic influence, delivering high-quality care and strong commercial outcomes across a portfolio that spans a blend of Local Authority and private fee markets.

The Central / Midlands region currently has a higher proportion of Local Authority funding, with a key focus on growing private occupancy in the right markets while maintaining excellent stakeholder and commissioner relationships.

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking a credible and experienced senior operational leader who can positively influence culture, quality, and financial performance across a large portfolio.

You will be:

  • A visible and people-focused leader with strong values
  • Skilled in leading through others and developing high-performing teams
  • Commercially astute with strong P&L accountability
  • Experienced in multi-home leadership (ideally 20+ homes, with 35+ advantageous)
  • Comfortable operating at strategic and transformation level
  • Able to balance Local Authority relationships with private-pay growth
  • Resilient, pragmatic and solutions-focused
  • Passionate about delivering safe, person-centred care

Essential Criteria

  • Senior multi-site leadership experience within adult social care
  • Proven track record of driving performance across a large region or portfolio
  • Financial and commercial acumen with strong budget accountability
  • Strong understanding of governance, safety, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience of improving occupancy, culture and workforce retention

Location

This role covers the Central / Midlands region. It is commutable from (including but not limited to: Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Northampton, Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Solihull, Worcester, Telford, Walsall, Tamworth, Loughborough, Burton-on-Trent, Rugby, Dudley, Sutton Coldfield, Kidderminster and Warwick).
