Role OverviewAs a Dispensing Optician, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient experiences, supporting the optometrist and guiding patients through their eyewear journey from consultation to final dispense. Alongside traditional dispensing responsibilities, the role also offers the opportunity to become involved in the wider commercial and creative aspects of the business, making it particularly appealing for someone who enjoys contributing ideas and helping shape the direction of the practice. This includes involvement in areas such as frame buying, product selection, pricing strategies and visual merchandising, giving you genuine input into the growth and development of the optical department, while working with high-end, designer eyewear collection.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert frame styling, dispensing advice and lens recommendations
- Support patients with repairs, adjustments and aftercare
- Work closely with the Optometrist and wider clinic team
- Contribute to frame buying and product selection
- Support pricing strategies and product positioning
- Play a role in driving the commercial success of the practice
- Deliver outstanding patient care and customer service
We are looking for a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician who enjoys working in a patient-focused environment and has a genuine interest in both the clinical and commercial aspects of optics. Candidates will ideally have a minimum three years' dispensing experience, although strong candidates with slightly less experience may still be considered.
The ideal candidate will be:
- GOC Registered Dispensing Optician
- Experienced across all aspects of optical dispensing
- Commercially aware and confident
- Passionate about eyewear styling and fashion
- Dynamic, proactive and personable
- Comfortable contributing ideas to help develop the practice
- Experience with glazing would be advantageous but is not essential.
- £35,000 – £40,000 salary DOE
- Performance bonus scheme based on dispensing sales
- Monday – Friday working - No weekends – excellent work-life balance
- 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays)
