Remit

Compass Associates is proudly working with the leading Employee Assistance Programme provider to recruit for newly qualified Counsellors to join their graduate training programme in Hinckley. Upon joining, you will complete a comprehensive five-week induction programme, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to use the internal systems, navigate a range of clinical scenarios and provide safe, effective support to helpline callers. This is a fast-paced role which is based within their Helpline Division, providing compassionate, safe, in-the-moment emotional support and guidance to callers experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis. During each call, you will conduct clinical and risk assessments, provide appropriate advice and signposting to relevant services and professionals, and maintain accurate clinical records. Following successful completion of the six-month Graduate Programme, you will be promoted to the role of Wellbeing Counsellor. Alongside your helpline responsibilities, you will have protected time each week to manage a small caseload of clients, delivering one-to-one counselling sessions.

Location

The role is based full time in Hinckley so is commutable from Leicester, Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Coalville, Nuneaton, Rugby, Leamington Spa, Lutterworth, Atherstone, Bedworth, Coventry, Tamworth and surrounding towns.

Essential Criteria

  • Level 4 Diploma in Counselling
  • A minimum of 150 counselling hours
  • Registered member of the BACP or equivalent
  • High level of computer literacy, including on the phone and online CRM systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the resilience, drive and passion to support individuals in distress.
  • Experience working in a telephone-based or helpline role would be highly advantageous
  • Previous experience working with individuals who are high risk or with suicidal ideation

Interview Process

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to attend the Graduate Programme Open Day on 21st July, where you will hear from current Counsellors, Counselling Managers and the Head of Counselling, take part in group activities and practical scenarios, and complete either a one-to-one or group interview.
