Compass Associates are working in partnership with a reputable and established care provider to recruit an experienced Care Home Manager for a nursing care service in Dundee.

This is an important leadership appointment for an experienced manager who can take ownership of the service, provide clear direction to the team and deliver meaningful improvements across the home. The provider is looking for someone with a proven track record of improving care services and creating stability within a challenging environment.

THE ROLE

Reporting into the senior operational team, the Home Manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the service, ensuring residents receive safe, high-quality and person-centred care. The successful candidate will be expected to provide strong leadership and establish clear standards across the home, while identifying areas for improvement and putting effective action plans in place.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overall responsibility for the operational and clinical performance of the home
  • Leading, motivating and developing the management and care teams
  • Driving improvements in care quality, governance and regulatory compliance
  • Maintaining strong safeguarding and risk management processes
  • Working closely with residents, relatives and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Reviewing staffing structures, recruitment, retention and workforce performance
  • Monitoring budgets, occupancy and other key operational measures
  • Identifying areas of underperformance and implementing robust improvement plans
  • Embedding consistent systems, processes and accountability across the service
  • Building a positive culture focused on high standards, resident outcomes and continuous improvement

ABOUT YOU

This role requires an experienced and resilient Care Home Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of a service that requires significant improvement. You must be nursing qualified and have substantial experience managing an elderly nursing care service. Importantly, you will need to demonstrate previous experience of turnaround, service recovery or leading a home through a period of significant improvement.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • NMC registration as an RGN, RMN or RNLD
  • Significant experience as a Home Manager within elderly nursing care
  • A demonstrable track record of turnaround or service improvement
  • Strong knowledge of Care Inspectorate requirements and Scottish care legislation
  • Experience managing quality, clinical governance, safeguarding and compliance
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to improve team performance and accountability
  • Experience managing budgets, occupancy, staffing and operational KPIs
  • The resilience and credibility to lead through a period of change
  • A proactive approach to identifying problems and delivering sustainable solutions
  • Strong communication skills with residents, relatives, staff and external stakeholders

This is a role for a manager who is able to assess a service objectively, establish priorities and then lead from the front to deliver measurable improvement.
