The Opportunity

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of outpatient pharmacy services. Working closely with the Lead Pharmacist and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will clinically screen prescriptions, provide expert medicines advice, support dispensing activities, and ensure patients receive the highest standard of pharmaceutical care. You will also contribute to service development initiatives, clinical governance activities, and the ongoing training and support of pharmacy colleagues. Whether you are an experienced Pharmacist or newly qualified, you will be encouraged to develop your clinical expertise within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinically screen and validate prescriptions to ensure safe and appropriate prescribing.
  • Provide expert medicines information, advice, and counselling to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Support the safe dispensing and supply of medicines, including high-risk medications.
  • Act as the Responsible Pharmacist when required, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional standards.
  • Deliver and support clinical services, accuracy checking activities, and patient-facing pharmacy services.
  • Identify and resolve medication-related issues, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Monitor prescription volumes and support effective workload management across the pharmacy.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement projects and service development initiatives.
  • Participate in clinical governance activities, audits, and risk management processes.
  • Support the training, development, and supervision of pharmacy team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold high standards of record keeping.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with GPhC standards and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess a genuine passion for patient care and a commitment to delivering safe, effective pharmacy services. You will have:

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) with no adverse Fitness to Practise history
  • An MPharm degree or equivalent Pharmacy qualification
  • Current UK pharmacy experience (pre-registration experience will be considered)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to adapt communication styles to meet individual patient needs, including overcoming barriers such as language, hearing impairment, or learning difficulties
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Experience using pharmacy dispensing and clinical systems
  • A demonstrable commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • A clear DBS check or willingness to undergo one
