Clinical Deputy Manager – Elderly Nursing Home
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £47,000 per annum
Contracted Hours: 40 hours

Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded elderly nursing home in the Southampton area, who are seeking an experienced Clinical Deputy Manager to join their leadership team.
This well-established home provides nursing, dementia and residential care and has a strong reputation for high-quality, person-centred care. This is an excellent opportunity for an existing Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead looking to step into a supportive, supernumerary leadership role.
The Role
As Clinical Deputy Manager, you will:
- Support the Home Manager in the day-to-day clinical and operational running of the home
- Lead, mentor and develop the nursing and care teams
- Ensure the home consistently delivers safe, effective and high-quality care
- Oversee clinical governance, audits, care planning and compliance
- Work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Act as a positive role model with a hands‑on, supportive leadership style
Candidate Requirements
To be considered, you must have:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with an active NMC PIN.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Deputy Manager or equivalent Clinical Lead role.
- Strong clinical background in elderly care and dementia nursing, with proven ability to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
- Demonstrates a genuine passion for elderly care and commitment to clinical excellence.
- Confident leadership skills, with excellent communication, organisational, and team management capabilities.
- An empathetic and kind leader with strong emotional intelligence, able to support staff, foster a positive culture, and build trusting relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.

The home is based in the Southampton area and is easily commutable Swanwick, Hook, Whiteley, Porchester, Hedge End, Bishop Waltham’s, Wickham, Hambledon, Lee-on-Solent, Portsmouth, Eastleigh, Chandler’s Ford and Romsey.
